Chronic Latent Syndesmotic Instability: A Surgical Algorithm, Patient Outcomes, And Return To Activity
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods: The cohort is comprised of 23 individuals who elected to undergo surgical treatment of chronic syndesmotic instability. The surgical repair consisted of arthroscopic debridement in all cases with suture button fi xation of those patients who had greater than 4 mm of syndesmotic diastasis on arthroscopic evaluation. Inclusion criteria includes: greater than 2mm of diastasis at the distal syndesmosis on arthroscopic stress examination and failure of conservative management. All patients had a minimum of 24 months follow-up. This study retrospectively examined the prospectively gathered pre-operative and post-operative outcome scores to include: a Visual Analog Pain Score (VAS), SF 36, and an AOFAS Ankle and Hind foot Scale scores. In addition, patients were questioned on their ability to return to their preinjury level of activity and their ability to continue running sports.

Arthroscopy-assisted repair of latent syndesmotic instability of the ankle.
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to investigate the results of repair of latent ankle syndesmotic instability and widening by an arthroscopic and percutaneous approach. METHODS This case study series presents 6 patients who presented with latent syndesmotic instability after sustaining a rotational ankle injury. All 6 patients underwent arthroscopy-assisted repair and percutaneous fixati...
متن کاملThe Measurement and Clinical Importance of Syndesmotic Reduction After Operative Fixation of Rotational Ankle Fractures.
BACKGROUND Rotational ankle fractures often have unstable syndesmotic injuries that require reduction and stabilization. Multiple studies have focused on methods to assess syndesmotic reduction; however, the clinical importance of anatomic syndesmotic reduction remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the quality of syndesmotic reduction influenced clinical outcomes f...
متن کاملContribution of Surgery in Solitary Plasmacytoma of Spine; A Case Report
Solitary plasmacytoma of bone is a rare malignant tumor mostly involving the axial skeleton. The tumor occurs in middle- aged or elderly people (mean age: 55 years) and has a high risk of progression to multiple myeloma. Radiotherapy is the preferred treatment for this disease. We report a case of recurrent solitary plasmacytoma of the fourth lumbar vertebra in a 35-year-old male. The patient s...
متن کاملRetrospective Review of Tibiofibular Fusions as a Salvage Procedure for Chronic Syndesmotic Injuries
Background: Previous authors have demonstrated that failure to stabilize syndesmotic injuries associated with ankle fractures lead to poor functional outcomes. The treatment of these chronic deformities remains unclear. This retrospective study investigated the radiographic and clinical outcomes of these injuries treated with tibiofibular syndesmotic fusions as a salvage procedure. Methods: The...
متن کاملForecasting Surgical Outcomes Using a Fuzzy-Based Decision System
Background and objectives: The kidneys of chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients do not have enough function and hemodialysis (HD) is a common procedure for their treatment. HD requires vascular access surgery (VAS) and arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is a low-complication method in VAS. However, different rates of AVF failure have been reported worldwide which can cause repeating s...
